Storyboard

In the first scene we will use an establishing shot of a woods/forest that is calm and peaceful (equilibrium). This equilibrium is then broken by a quick cut to a footstep running past and suspense music kicking in. This quick editing is well known in thriller films for creating action and tension. Many action/thriller films have chase scenes so we have incorporated a chase scene into our opening sequence as it will get the audiences attention and keep them intrigued. During this chase scene we will use many close ups, mid shots and long shots all edited together to give the impression of a fast pace. The close ups allow us to see the runners facial expressions (i.e. fear), the mid shots allow us to see the speed of the runner and the long shots let us see the speed of both the runners and the chasers in the same scene. To break up this speed the runner will trip, this will make the audience feel sorry for this runner as the chasers will be getting closer. The music will build up and will get louder and faster until the climax where a gun is shot, this will pierce the music into silence and thus you will be able to hear the environment again (i.e. Birds tweeting).

This is a rough outline on how we could put the opening credits onto our film, mostly there is a 5 second gap between each different title - this is so that the audience have chance to read what is on the screen but also that it doesn't distract the audience. If titles flash on the screen too fast or with too much it can make the audience dislike it.
