Shelby's Prelim Task AND Evaluation

THIS IS OUR PRELIM TASK

Prelim Task Evaluation:
Task Brief:
Continuity task involving filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom he/she then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue. This task should demonstrate match on action, shot reverse shot and the 180-degree rule.

Evaluation:
In our prelim task I think we did it quite well as we reached all of the criteria to an acceptable standard. We had a character walk to a door with a close up shot of his hand opening the door, this is followed by a mid shot of him walking across the room and then he sits down opposite the fellow character. The shots are edited together to try to create a sense of continuity however because they aren’t very long they move very quickly – this is something that could be improved. Then they exchange a few lines this is done by shot reverse shot over the shoulders of the characters but also the 180 rule is followed during this. Therefore by doing this we followed the criteria to the best of our abilities, however there are improvements that need to be made.
Improvements that could be made to this video are that it’s too short so that the shots move very quickly therefore we need to make the video longer to be able to make it run more smoothly. Next time if we need to use a 180 reverse shot for dialogue we need to make sure we include more dialogue to make it long.
